Calvin E. Atwell, M.D. having completed his residency in 1981 has practiced surgery in the Muscatine area since 1986. He is Board Certified in General Surgery, and holds the honors of Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, as well as Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery.Dr. Atwell specializes in both general and trauma/emergency surgery. He has extensive experience in colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, and laparoscopic procedures including hernia, gallbladder, appendectomy, gastric band, and nissen fudoplication. Other expertise also includes breast, colo-rectal and gastro-intestinal surgery. Dr. Atwell performs in-office procedures such as vasectomy and treatment of moles, warts and skin cancers.
He completed his surgical residency at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has participated in additional specialized training to maintain the highest of current professional standards.
